We've used Coronet for a while now, and the staff is always friendly. My husband recently started boxing his shirts, which I have found to be quite expensive versus hangers, but that may be the case in general for that type of service. I have recommended them to other friends and they all agree that the service and quality of work is very good.
Service may be good but the prices are hidden and inflated

This was my first experience with Coronet Cleaners and my expectation was that they would do a good job and from what I can see (items still on hanger) they may have. The problem I have is the ridiculous price they charge for their work. I brought in four sheers to be pressed on Monday and the woman who assisted (I�ve come to find out was the manager) didn�t tell me the cost; ask me if I was familiar with the company and its services nor was there a price list posted anywhere. The only thing I got from her was that it wouldn�t be done until Monday, May 18 and I asked for them to be ready by Friday, May 16. She didn�t provide me with a ticket as a receipt for my goods, and only took my name down. That afternoon, I went onto the website to contact them via email asking if it could be ready earlier than Friday and never got a response. Their website also did not have any prices posted. Now Id had a price in my head that I expected to pay for the service, which was between $60 and $75, but when I picked them up I was absolutely floored. The clerk brought the curtains out to me and told me that the bill was $276.00 (I believe that is the exact amount) and my mouth dropped open. She said it was $64.00 per sheer to be pressed. I only paid $39.00 each for these sheers at Pottery Barn Kids and felt like they were being stolen from me at that price. I firmly expressed my displeasure with the price and the clerk went to speak with the manager. The manager didn�t come out, but did end up dropping the cost to $140.00 which is still incredibly expensive for this work. The clerk mentioned several time that they do the work by hand on a special iron, but that still does not justify $64.00 a piece. If I pressed them myself at home with a hand iron, it would take me about 10 minutes a piece to do, but if I had an industrial press, I would be done a lot quicker than that, so I can see how they justify the price. The other thing is that if she was able to drop the price that much, do they make the prices up as they go along? They don�t have posted prices anywhere in the store or website. Does this mean that they think the people who live, shop and work in the Upper Kirby, River Oaks or other elite areas of town are so blinded by a label that they will pay whatever the cost just to say they went to �Coronet Cleaners�. Perhaps the people who use there service also spend $300 on a t-shirt at Neiman Marcus, just to say they did. I am fortunate to be able to afford most things I want, and will pay for a service without question if I feel it is justified and reasonable, but I will not allow a company to take advantage of me by charging rates for a service that is absolutely ridiculous and not voice my opinion on this over charging. The service may be of a premium quality, but it still isn�t worth that cost to me or anyone else. The mistake I made was NOT asking how much it would cost, but again, I never expected to be charged such an inflated amount.
